Last week’s tips went down like a lead balloon, but onwards and upwards, another week and another set of fixtures to get stuck into. Both this week’s selections come from The Championship, a league that is always a tricky one to predict for football betting sites but can hold some really juicy prices at times too, feel free to let me know your thoughts on any of the tips on the site.
Portsmouth v Leeds
We’ve had some success in predicting the outcome of Pompey games in the past few weeks, but the major question marks over their squad’s strength in depth still remain for me. After a promising start in their last league game they had a disastrous last 5 minutes and conceded two goals at Nottingham Forest. The host’s home form isn’t too bad this season but they’ve only won 4 out of 11 games and have struggled to close games out recently and three straight league defeats leaves them hovering in 18th.
Simon Grayson’s Leeds had a midweek loss against Arsenal but even given an FA Cup tie I think their squad should be decent enough to cope with 2 games in 4 days. Leeds have only lost once in their last 14 league games and gave Scunthorpe a real pasting in their last outing. Players such as Max Gradel and Jonny Howson have really come to the fore this year and in my opinion they will be in the playoff picture come May. I don’t think the price on the home side is justified given both sides recent form and I’m happy to lay them in this situation. The reverse fixture was a 3-3 draw at Elland Road and that would be enough for this bet to come in.

Cardiff v Watford
The Bluebirds are another side that were embroiled in a midweek FA Cup replay which they eventually lost against Stoke in extra time. After a great start to the season their most recent form isn’t fantastic, they have only taken 3 points from 2 of their last 9 games in the league. I do like the style of football Dave Jones is trying to instil in his squad but this could be a difficult afternoon at The Cardiff City Stadium. Thier league position of 3rd may mean they are being a little overvalued for this game as they have only taken 8 points from their last 8 games.
Watford are top of the form table with 6 straight victories in the league, they are firing on all cylinders home and away and have made a great push up the league and find themselves in a play-off position. Players such as Marvin Sordell and Danny Graham are hitting the back of the net on a regular basis and they will fancy their chances on Saturday given their opponents shaky recent results and midweek exploits against a well drilled Arsenal team. Especially as less than a month ago Watford comprehensively dispatched Cardiff 4-1 at Vicarage Road. The asian handicap market on this game means you can get better than evens on Watford getting at least a point out of Saturdays game and to me, this is well worth a look.
