I think as a teacher one thing we can do to make our parents and children feel more welcomed is having the information of the class on the board. Such as a news letter. In the school I work at we post a news letter once a month talking about the teacher’s life what is going on in the classroom and what the class is needing such as reminder that the weather will be changing and when we go on walks to remember to dress your child on what they will need for that walk. Having this in the classroom allows the parents to not only learn about their child’s teacher but know what to expect. Another way we can make family feel welcomed is having a layout of the class and doing a walk through with the parents so they know what their child environment is.

I like that you mentioned letting the parents be aware of their childs learning environment. I think most parents think that children at a young age do mostly play at school and once they see how much learning is done through their play I think they gain a good respect for the teacher as well as impressed with their child and how much they are able to learn and express themselves through creativity and play in the classroom. This could be very inviting to them and make them want to be more involved in the classroom or come back and see the progress of their childs work on the walls or in their back packs take home folder.
