In order to make sure your classroom environment is appropriate and welcoming for both the students and family members you must provide a well organized program. I believe that one of the most important things to do is to make the newcomers feel comfortable. Find out about the children and their families. Having knowledge about the family dynamics makes it a lot easier to provide for the needs of a child. In order to do this, establishing an easy method of communicating. It is important to answer any questions to ease the transition. Involve the parents in what is going on at the center and get them involved. Ask parents to give input. Make the expectations of classroom attendance and behavior very clear. Provide the parents with a handbook and a school year calendar. Encourage parents to communicate any ideas or situations they feel need to be discussed. Offer ways for the parents to communicate with you after hours and  during the school day by providing an email. Make sure to learn the names of parents or guardians. It is so much easier to communicate with someone when you can address them appropriately. Using parents for input and involving them in the learning process is a good way to monitor educational growth.  Have a knowlege of resources available if a problem arises. Always stay helpful and positive.
