Labette Community College held their 10th Annual Auction for Scholarships Saturday, April 25, 2009 at the Parsons V.F.W. The theme was “There’s no Place like Labette” and the decorations and costumes were based on the popular book and movie, “The Wizard of Oz.”
The Executive Director of the Foundation and Alumni Association, Lindi Forbes, was very grateful for all the support from donors, sponsors, bidders, advertisers, volunteers, and the LCC staff and students that participated. “Numerous people contributed to the success of our event,” said Forbes. “We are so thankful for the generosity of our donors and guests, who truly believe in the value of education.”
The total revenue for the event was over $50,000. This is the largest amount of money to date that has ever been brought in by the annual auction. There were 167 donors of items, 22 sponsors, and 7 advertisers, which were all actually less than both 2007 and 2008, however that did not damper the generosity of bidders at the event. The total value of items contributed to the auction was $36, 142.10.
